MISSION STATEMENT OF
THE AMERICAN DENTAL HYGIENISTS’ ASSOCIATION

To improve the public’s total health, the mission of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association is to advance the art and science of dental hygiene by ensuring access to quality oral health care, increasing awareness of the cost-effective benefits of prevention, promoting the highest standards of dental hygiene education, licensure, and practice, and representing and promoting the interests of dental hygienists.

Enhance the profession of dental hygiene by improving professionalism, autonomy, access to oral health care, and the relationship of oral health to total health.

GOALS OF THE INDIANA DENTAL HYGIENISTS’ ASSOCIATION

	Promote membership and participation in the Indiana Dental Hygienists’ Association while providing for a viable financial base.
	Promote self-regulation of dental hygiene licensure.
	Promote the dental hygienist as a primary care provider of preventive and therapeutic services.
	Promote consumer advocacy in oral health care as a part of total health.
	Promote research relevant to dental hygiene.
	Serve as the authoritative resource for the profession of dental hygiene.
